Research Interests/Current Projects:
Andrew’s primary research interest focuses on the intersection of physical and mental health in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disease at the individual and population-based levels. Topics of interest include: the psychiatric epidemiology of anxiety, autism spectrum disorders, depression, frailty, and suicide in later life; parental perceptions, coping, and social support; and cost-effectiveness and economic evaluations of preventative and treatment interventions.
What brought you to VCU and/or Public Health:
Andrew came to VCU for the opportunity to continue his research in public health related to mental health with Dr. Mezuk, while pursuing his medical training within the VCU School of Medicine.
Hobbies or an interesting factoid:
Outside of work and school, Andrew volunteers as a puppy sitter for the Richmond Chapter of the Guiding Eyes for the Blind and acts as an assistant wrestling coach for Benedictine College Preparatory in Richmond. He enjoys reading, fishing, and exercising in his spare time.
